Maths made easy for Parents and Carers
IMPACT in learning’s Early Years Foundation Stage Maths Programme supports parents of nursery and reception children to understand the maths learning in the Early Learning Goals.
Subitising, composition of number, counting and automatic recall of number bonds to 5 and 10 are all explained to parents. Homework packs enhance the home learning environment and give children an additional boost to ensure fluency in number by the end of the EYFS phase.
IMPACT in learning’s Year One and Two Maths Programme supports parental understanding in the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, using tried and tested resources and activities to make maths learning easier.
Year 1:
Count, read and write numbers to 100, identifying one more/less, number bonds to 20, place value, addition strategies, subitising, use of mathematical symbols and problem solving.
Year 2:
Read, write, compare and recognise numbers to at least 100; count in steps of 2,3,5 and 0 and recall number bonds to 20; use greater/less than symbols; use addition and subtraction strategies to solve word problems.
Homework is provided and based around playing the Owl and Pussycat game, solving word problems and using addition and subtraction methods effectively.
IMPACT in learning’s Key stage 2 Maths Programmes take parents and carers through crucial national curriculum content for both year 3 and 4 (in our Snakes and Ladders programme) and through problem solving in years 5 and 6.
Parents need not be confident mathematicians in order to support their children as instruction and all resources are provided for the workshop and for the ongoing homework programme.
